Terms of Use
Last updated:
These terms are the agreement between you and Quadrazais OÜ, a company registered in Estonia, for the use of the KinPiggy iPhone app and kinpiggy.com. By creating an account or joining a family, you accept them.
What KinPiggy is, and what it is not
KinPiggy is a budgeting tool for a household. It records what a family plans to spend and what it actually spent, and it can read a bank statement to help with that.
KinPiggy is not a bank, a payment service, or a financial adviser. It cannot move money, and nothing it shows you is financial, tax or investment advice. Figures in the app come from what you and your bank put into it; you are responsible for checking them before you rely on them.
Where KinPiggy suggests a category for a transaction, that suggestion is a convenience drawn from your own history. It is not a judgement about the transaction, and it is yours to correct.
Your account and your family
You sign in with an email address, using a one-time link. You are responsible for the security of that mailbox: anybody who can read it can sign in as you.
One person creates a family and is its owner. The owner alone can connect a bank, import statements, manage who belongs to the family, and — where a paid plan applies — pay for it. The owner can invite others as admins, who may categorise and budget, or as members, who may record spending within the buckets and categories they have been given.
If you invite somebody, you are responsible for that decision and for the access you grant them. Invitations carry a single-use token, expire after fourteen days, and can be withdrawn before they are accepted.
What you put into KinPiggy
Your records stay yours. You grant us only the permission needed to store them, sync them between the devices of your family, and show them back to the people you have given access to.
You are responsible for what you enter, including anything you write into a description or a note, and for having the right to enter it. Do not put other people's personal information into a shared family unless they would expect you to.
Connecting a bank
Bank connections are made through Salt Edge, a regulated open banking provider, under the PSD2 rules for account information services. Access is read-only. KinPiggy can see transactions; it cannot initiate a payment or move money in any way.
You authenticate with your bank, not with us. Your bank credentials never pass through KinPiggy and we never see them.
Consent to read your account lasts 90 days, as the law requires. KinPiggy warns you before it lapses and you may withdraw it at any time, in the app or with your bank. When consent ends, importing stops — the transactions already imported stay in your budget, because losing your history for an administrative reason would be no help to anybody.
Paid plans
One payer per family. The owner holds the subscription; everybody they invite uses KinPiggy at no cost. There is no per-seat charge inside a household.
Where a paid plan applies, the price, the billing period and what is included are shown to you before you commit, and payment is taken through the App Store or our payment provider as indicated at the point of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period until cancelled.
You may cancel at any time, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. Where a subscription is bought through the App Store, cancellation and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's terms and through your Apple account settings; where it is bought from us directly, cancel in the app or by writing to us.
As a consumer in the EU you have a statutory right to withdraw within fourteen days of purchase. That right ends once you have asked for the service to start immediately and it has been fully performed, but we will not treat ordinary use of a subscription in its first fourteen days as giving up your right to a refund of the unused remainder.
If we change the price, we will tell you before it takes effect and you may cancel rather than accept it. If your subscription ends, your family's records are not deleted; features that need a paid plan simply stop.
Fair use
Use KinPiggy for your own household. Do not try to reach data belonging to a family you do not belong to, to work around the permission rules, to disassemble or resell the service, or to load it in a way designed to degrade it for other people.
We may suspend an account that is being used to attack the service or another person, and will say why when we do.
Availability and change
KinPiggy is provided as it is, and we do not promise it will be available without interruption. It depends on services we do not run — your bank, the open banking provider, Apple — and any of those can fail or change.
Features change. We will not remove something you depend on without notice where we can avoid it, and we will not silently change what these terms permit us to do with your data.
Ending it
You may stop using KinPiggy at any time and ask us to delete your account and your family's data, which we will do as described in the Privacy Policy.
We may end this agreement if you break these terms in a way that matters, or if we discontinue the service. If we discontinue it, we will give you reasonable notice and a way to take your records with you.
Liability
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or under your mandatory rights as a consumer.
Subject to that, we are not liable for financial decisions you take on the basis of what the app shows you, for figures a bank or provider reported incorrectly, or for loss caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control. Our total liability in any twelve-month period is limited to what you paid us in that period.
KinPiggy is a budgeting record, not an accounting system of record. Keep your bank's own statements.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Estonia. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings there.
If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
Changes to these terms
We will post any change here and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, so that you can decide whether to carry on.
